The "Magic" of High Expectations (The Pygmalion Effect) 🪄📈
Good morning, Axelle!
Investor Shout-out & Standing Ovation: Last night was a "Double Dividend" night! You delivered two presentations with clarity, confidence, and deep insight. You proved that when a "Founder" hits a bump in the road, they don't give up, they work twice as hard to get back on top. We are incredibly proud of your resilience. You are officially in the Creme de la Creme of student researchers!
The "Flipping" Update:
Status: Analyzing "The Power of Belief."
Goal: To understand how the way people see us (and the way we see ourselves) can actually change our reality.
💡 Today’s Research Task: The Pygmalion Effect
Have you ever noticed that when a teacher or a parent believes you are a "Genius," you actually start doing better work? There is a scientific reason for this called the Pygmalion Effect.
The Big Question: "In a famous experiment, teachers were told that certain students were 'Academic Bloomers' (extra smart), even though they were just regular kids. Why did those specific kids actually end up getting higher grades by the end of the year?"
Your Research Protocol:
The Label Flip: How does a "Label" (like being called an Investor or a Founder) change the way a person behaves every day?
The Feedback Loop: If Mama and Papa treat you like a "World Figure" and a "Pro Illustrator," how does that change the way you draw and study?
The Golem Effect: Research the opposite of Pygmalion: the Golem Effect. What happens to people when they are told they are "lazy" or "not good enough"?
The Founder’s Opinion: Now that you know about this "Magic," how can you use the Pygmalion Effect on yourself? When you look in the mirror, what "Labels" should you give yourself to make sure you keep growing?
🛠️ The Digital Archive & Vlog Prep
Vlog Alert! Today marks the end of your second 7-day cycle!
Cycle 2 Recap: JWST, Biomimicry, Frida Kahlo, Silk Road, Sagrada Família, The Great Wall, and Pygmalion Effect.
Task: Gather all your notes and drawings (including your illustration for Mama's article!).
Vlog Schedule: Since it's Saturday, aim to record your summary vlog today so we can post it during the "Global Window" (8:00 PM WIB) to reach your international audience!
A Little Tip: Try this "Mindset" prompt for Milo the AI: "Milo, explain the Pygmalion Effect to me like I’m a CEO. How do my expectations of myself change my results? Also, tell me the ancient Greek myth of Pygmalion, the sculptor who fell in love with his own creation."
We are ready for your final presentation of the week. Let's finish strong!
Onward and Upward,
Mama & Papa
