Research Day 69: The Ant Colony Super-Brain – How Tiny Sparks Build Megacities 🐜🏙️🧠
Hey Axelle!
Yesterday, we climbed the ladders of the infinite Library of Babel to see
how you can pull your own unique ideas out of a universe of possibilities.
Today, we are putting on our microscopic magnifying glass to shrink down to
the dirt floor and study Teamwork, Emergence, and Systems Thinking
through the magic of The Ant Colony Super-Brain.
If you look at a single ant wandering across a sidewalk, it doesn't look
like an absolute genius. A single ant has a microscopic brain with only
about 250,000 neurons (compared to a human's 86 billion!). It gets lost
easily, wanders in random circles, and can't solve a complex puzzle on its
own.
But when you put 100,000 ants together in a colony, something mind-blowing
happens: They turn into a single, massive, hyper-intelligent
"Super-Organism."

Without a single leader, boss, or manager telling them what to do, an ant
