{REPLACING} Research Day 73: Galileo Galilei – Turning Fear into Unfazed Curiosity 🔭 Jupiter & Starry Sidereal
Hey Axelle!
Today, we are climbing up the leaning tower of Pisa and stepping into a
17th-century observatory to meet one of the most courageous, sharp-eyed
scientists who ever lived: Galileo Galilei.
Galileo was an Italian astronomer, physicist, and engineer. When almost the
entire world believed that the Sun revolved around the Earth because
"that's what everyone has always said," Galileo didn't just take their word
for it. He built his own homemade telescope, pointed it at the night sky,
and discovered moons orbiting Jupiter, mountains on the Moon, and phases of
Venus!
When powerful people told him to stop questioning the old ways, Galileo
didn't freeze or run away. He put on his spectacles, picked up his
leather-bound star charts, and investigated with unstoppable, unfazed
curiosity.
