What Makes Music Happy or Sad?
Good morning, Axelle! ๐ We're so excited to see what you discover today. Music has a magical way of making us feel things โ but have you ever wondered why? Let's dive in!
The Big Question: What makes music sound happy or sad? Is it the notes, the speed, or something else entirely?
The Mission: Your mission is to explore how music can change our feelings. First, look up what 'major' and 'minor' keys mean. Then, pick two songs โ one that feels happy and one that feels sad. Listen carefully with your eyes closed and notice the tempo (fast or slow), the pitch (high or low), and the instruments you hear. What patterns do you find?
The Science Check: Try this: On a piano app or keyboard, play a simple tune like 'Twinkle Twinkle' in a major key. Then, change it to a minor key by lowering the third note. How does the mood shift? Write down your thoughts!
Did you know? Some movie composers use minor keys to make you feel scared โ that's why scary movie music sounds so creepy! ๐ฌ
Have fuuuun!!! ๐ถ
