The Secret Life of Worms – Soil Superheroes 🪱🌱
Good morning, Axelle! Today we're going underground to meet one of the most important animals on Earth – the humble earthworm. They may be slimy, but they're gardeners' best friends!
The Big Question: How do earthworms help plants grow and keep the soil healthy?
The Mission: 1) Find out what earthworms eat and how they digest it. 2) Learn how they aerate the soil – why is that good for roots? 3) Discover how they create 'castings' (their droppings) that are like plant food. 4) Do a simple, safe activity: observe a worm if you can (maybe after rain) or watch a video. Draw a diagram of a worm's tunnel system.
Did you know? Earthworms can eat their own weight in soil every day! And they have no eyes, but they can sense light and vibrations.
Have fuuuun!!!
Onward and Upward,
Mama & Papa
