The Invention of the Bicycle โ Powered by You! ๐ฒ๐จ
Good morning, Axelle! Today we're celebrating a machine that doesn't need fuel, electricity, or even a horse โ just you! The bicycle has changed the world, and its history is full of clever inventions.
The Big Question: How did the bicycle evolve from a wooden toy to the two-wheeler we know today?
The Mission: 1) Research the first 'running machine' called the 'draisine' โ who made it and when? 2) Discover why the 'penny-farthing' had such a huge front wheel. 3) Learn about the safety bicycle โ what made it safe? 4) Find out how bicycles are used in different countries for transport, sport, and even mail delivery.
Did you know? Before cars, there were 'bicycle tours' and women's rights were linked to cycling โ it gave women freedom to travel on their own!
Have fuuuun!!!
Onward and Upward,
Mama & Papa
