The Art of Tibetan Sand Mandalas
Good morning, Axelle!
Today we're traveling to Tibet to discover an art form that takes days to create and then is swept away in minutes. It's a practice of patience and letting go.
The Big Question: Why would someone spend days making something beautiful only to destroy it?
The Mission:
1. What is a sand mandala? What materials are used?
2. Watch a short video of monks creating one. What tools do they use?
3. What is the purpose of destroying the mandala after it's finished?
Did you know? The sand is often made from crushed marble, and after the ceremony, it's poured into a river to spread blessings.
Have fuuuun!!!
