The Great Stink of London
Good morning, Axelle!
Today we're holding our noses and traveling back to 1858 London, where the River Thames was so smelly it forced a major change!
The Big Question: How can a bad smell lead to a huge engineering project?
The Mission:
1. What caused the Great Stink of 1858?
2. How did the smell affect the city and its people?
3. What was built to solve the problem, and who designed it?
Did you know? The new sewer system was so effective that it helped stop cholera outbreaks and is still in use today!
Have fuuuun!!!
