The World's Loudest Library
Good morning, Axelle!
Today we're going somewhere wonderfully strange — a place where you're allowed to shout, and the building shouts back in colors.
The Big Question: How can sound become a picture you can see?
The Mission:
1. Find out what a cymatics experiment is — and what happens to sand or water when you play different notes nearby.
2. Learn about the whispering gallery effect... wait, we've done that one! Instead, look up how the artist Björk (or any sound artist) turned music into moving images.
3. Draw your own "sound picture": choose a note and sketch what you think it would look like.
Did you know? Sound travels about four times faster in water than in air — so whales can chat across entire oceans.
Have fuuuun!!!
Onward and Upward,
Mama & Papa
