The Clock That Never Ticks

Good morning, Axelle!

Some clocks count seconds. Today's clock counts something much slower — and it lives inside a mountain.

The Big Question: How do you build a clock that lasts 10,000 years?

The Mission:
1. Discover the Clock of the Long Now — who is building it, and where is it hidden?
2. What does it use instead of a pendulum? (Hint: it involves the Sun and a very slow gear.)
3. If YOU could leave one message for people 10,000 years from now, what would it say? Write it down.

Did you know? The Long Now clock is designed to tick just once a year — its century hand moves only once every 100 years.

Have fuuuun!!!

Onward and Upward,
Mama & Papa
