The Library Under the Sand
Good morning, Axelle!
Imagine a city buried so completely that people forgot it existed — until a goat fell through a hole.
The Big Question: How does an entire city disappear for 1,700 years?
The Mission:
1. Discover Herculaneum — the Roman town buried by the same eruption as Pompeii, but covered in mud instead of ash.
2. Why did the mud preserve wooden furniture, food, and even scrolls?
3. Find out what scientists are doing to read the carbonized scrolls without opening them.
Did you know? Researchers are using X-rays and AI to read scrolls that look like burnt logs — and they're finding lost Greek philosophy!
Have fuuuun!!!
Onward and Upward,
